TETRIS Consortium Meets in Barcelona for the 2nd General Assembly

In September, 17-18, the TETRIS consortium gathered in Barcelona, Spain, at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO), for its 2nd General Assembly,

The meeting brought together project partners, scientific advisors, and patient representatives, providing a key opportunity to review progress, strengthen collaboration, and plan the next steps for the coming months.

Over the two days, representatives from all consortium partners, including INT, RS, VHIO, UniSR, POLIMI, AQUILAB, NEOLYS, FPGMX, took part in Steering Committee meetings, working sessions, and work package updates. A parallel session dedicated to communication and dissemination also engaged members of the Patients Advisory Board.

The General Assembly featured several educational sessions, including presentations on results and use of the RadioDtech and RadioProfile tests, Digital Twins in healthcare and radiotherapy, on cardiac calcifications and long-term risk prediction, DTs for radiotherapy framework and estimating absolute risks from modern breast cancer radiotherapy. These sessions were delivered by experts such as Sandrine Pereira (NEOLYS), Claudio Fiorino (UniSR), Paolo Zunino (POLIMI), Professor Alfons Hoekstra and Professor Carolyn Taylor, members of the Scientific Advisory Board.

A special thank you goes to the VHIO team for their warm hospitality and excellent organisation, to our Scientific Advisors, Professor Alfons Hoekstra and Professor Carolyn Taylor, for enriching the discussions with their valuable insights, and to the patients from the Patients Advisory Board associations, whose contributions remain central to the TETRIS project.

📢 TETRIS at ESTRO 2026

Join us at ESTRO 2026 for the presentation by Benedetta Dionisi Ferrera, Modeling Researcher at the Data Science Unit of Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori.

🗓 Saturday, 16 May
⏰ 17:00–18:00
📄 Session: Functional biomarkers and prediction models 2

Benedetta will present:
“Normal tissue genetically-adjusted radiation dose (NT_GARD) for causal inference models of late toxicity after breast cancer radiotherapy”, Abstract 4057

The presentation will explore the integration of the genetic susceptibility to the delivered physical dose to the breast to investigate the dose-effect relationship for side-effects after breast cancer radiotherapy when individual genetic radiosensitivity is included.

📢 TETRIS at ESTRO 2026

We are pleased to share that Marco Fois, PhD, AI & Biomedical Data Science Researcher at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University (UniSR), will present a digital poster at ESTRO 2026.

🖥️ Digital Poster Presentation, Abstract 1103
🔬 “CT-based Predictors of Radiation-Induced Pulmonary Toxicity in Breast Cancer Patients”

The work explores the role of CT imaging biomarkers in predicting radiation-induced pulmonary toxicity in breast cancer patients, contributing to the development of more personalised and safer radiotherapy approaches within the TETRIS project.
